Courtney Love and other Vampires…. Another Mag, Hudson Jeans

“It’s the same old shit.” Friend and photographer Craig McDean said to me  at last night’s Another Mag/Hudson jeans party at the Jane Hotel. “Each year, I’m just getting older.  Susan, you’re just getting blonder. But you know, this is pretty damn good.”

Yeah, the big names like Madonna and  electo popster Lady Gaga (see below) flocked in for a few minutes round three a.m, then fled. But the earlier tip felt like supper in a cousin’s parlor by the hearth, with people sprawled on couches, eating beef and salmon and vegetables, clinking champagne glasses. A band called the Horrors took the stage. Reminded me of Eighties’ band,  Bauhaus revisited. Bela Lugosi may have died long ago but we’re still here.

So many familiar faces in a room. Masters behind the scenes like photo retoucher Pascal Dangin and art director Fabien Baron. Kim Gordon. Anouck Lepore. Another Mag editor Jefferson Hack in his perennial slim white suit. I caught up with friends from the old Brit pack when we all used to hang like  invincible ones well before “9/11” sobered everyone up.

Then, I overheard Courtney Love. “You haven’t lived until you’ve seen Karl Lagerfeld mosh.” Karl may be the only invincible one left.
