05-08-2014 In my very young absurd youth, I did party write ups for pubs like InStyle, the veritable New York Times, and something called Fashion Wire Daily, which has now morphed into the fashion tabloid the Daily.

I’ve since passed the traditional reportage to the new kids on the block. Later, after writing for art books — providing the words for talented photographers like  Roni Horn, Tierney Gearon —  upon entering the fray, I’ve searched for details that might escape other eyes.

Last evening, the Whitney Art Party (sponsored by Max Mara) gave me an opportunity to direct two living flowers — art advisor Anastasia Rogers and author/essayist Melanie Berliet (pictured below) — against the wall art that mimicked their energies.

After all, what’s an art party without living beauty?
